A suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of two people early Friday in a North Las Vegas apartment complex.

The victims were 43-year-old Michelle Dupree of North Las Vegas and 31-year-old Charles Brooks Jr. No residence for Brooks was available.

Both died of multiple gunshot wounds and their deaths were ruled homicides, said the Clark County coroner.

Dupree’s former companion, Caleb Perez Maxey, 50, was arrested Friday.

"He's the only suspect," North Las Vegas Officer Eric Leavitt told News 3.

Neighbors reported to police they heard arguing before Dupree and Brooks were shot about 5 a.m. at the Colonial Grand at Desert Vista apartments at 3305 E. Rome Blvd.

The FBI Criminal Apprehension team located Maxey a few hours after the shooting and arrested him in the 700 block of East Naples Drive in Las Vegas.

Maxey is being held in the Las Vegas City Detention Center on two counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated stalking.

Police said Maxey had been previously arrested for stalking.
