Suspect arrested in two Nye County armed robberies

UPDATE, May 16 | The Nye County Sheriff's Office says a suspect has been arrested in two armed robberies reported Monday.

According to a spokesman for the sheriff's office, 29-year-old Jeffrey McMahon was taken into custody after deputies received several tips.

No other details on his arrest have been released. The sheriff's office says a press release will be issued later Wednesday.

UPDATE, 10:50 a.m. | Authorities say two people identified as persons of interest in two armed robberies have come forward.

The man and woman who were captured in surveillance video have been ruled out as suspects in the incidents, Lt. David Boruchowitz said in an email.

Authorities are now looking for a man pictured wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. He's described as about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing about 165 pounds and being in his mid-40s.

He has red hair and a red beard, according to Boruchowitz.

ORIGINAL | Authorities in Nye County are looking for two persons of interested in connection with two separate cases of armed robbery reported Monday.

A spokesman for the Nye County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to one robbery report at Green Valley Grocery in Pahrump Monday.

They responded to another robbery report later in the day at a Maverik gas station in Pahrump as well.

Investigators identified two people wanted for questioning in connection with the two incidents, with a spokesman saying they are considered people of interest as of Tuesday morning.
