Take that, Wolfpack! UNLV Football paints the Fremont Cannon red
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
The University of Nevada Las Vegas football team painted the Fremont Cannon red Monday after defeating the University of Nevada Reno on Saturday, 34-29.
Students and faculty gathered as the football team proudly marched from the Lied Athletic Complex to the Student Union before painting the cannon.
The Fremont Cannon is awarded to the winner of the UNLV vs. UNR football game each year. The winner paints the cannon in the school's colors.
This win comes after the team was in a 23-point deficit against the Wolf Pack. This is head coach Tony Sanchez's second time winning the cannon during his tenure.
With a 4-8 record, UNLV is not bowl eligible. Saturday's win marks the last game of the season.
