A police officer suffered a leg injury during a foot pursuit of a carjacking/battery suspect in the northeast valley Saturday morning.

About 10:20 a.m., the suspect battered a male victim as he stole what was described as a tan 2005 Lincoln Town Car in the 3700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North, according to Lt. Richard Meyers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Minutes later, police were called about a vehicle matching the description hitting a wall in the 3800 block of Steinbeck Drive.

Officers established a perimeter and with the aid of the LVMPD air unit, found the suspect in the 4100 block of Dobson Drive after what Meyers described as a short foot pursuit.

An officer suffered an unspecified leg injury and was transported to a hospital.

The man originally driving the carjacked vehicle refused medical treatment.

The suspect was not being cooperative with police, Meyers said.
