A fire tore through the garage of an east valley home Friday morning, according to fire officials.

Crews responded to a report of a house fire on Falling Rain Drive, near Sahara Avenue and Tree Line Drive, just before 4 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, said Clark County Fire Chief Greg Cassell in an email.

Firefighters arrived to find a blaze tearing through a garage, forcing them to take a defensive stance, Cassell said. Once the fire diminished, they were able to go into the garage and house and quickly put out the fire.

One person was inside the home at the time of the fire. According to Cassell, he woke up to sounds coming from the garage and was able to escape without any injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and fire officials estimate damage of $150,000.
