LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Mr. Las Vegas's return to the Strip will have to wait a bit longer.
Wayne Newton announced on social media early Thursday morning he would postpone the start of his show "Wayne: Up Close and Personal," citing a recent back injury as the reason.
"We're disappointed, but look forward to presenting our all new edition ... when I am fully recovered," Newton's statement reads. "We want to give you what you deserve and expect from us, the best show possible."
The first date on the schedule was Saturday, Oct. 23, with more shows running through the fall and into December and New Year's Day.
Newton is an icon of Las Vegas entertainment and the namesake of the road that leads to the city's McCarran International Airport. His hit songs include "Daddy, Don't You Walk So Fast," "Years" and his rendition of "Danke Schoen."
