LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — It’s good to know the future belongs to children. And I really believe that when I get to meet smart, kind and soft-hearted youngsters like the young man you are about to meet.
10-year-old Jaylen is this week’s Wednesday’s child, and he proves that the future is bright when kids like him become adults. Until that day, he just needs someone to adopt him and make him their own.
Jaylen is a bright light with a great sense of humor -- a young man who tells me: “I’m a really nice kid when you get to know me.”
Getting to know Jaylen is as easy as a Sunday morning. He has a happy heart.
“A lot of things make me happy,” Jaylen said. “I’m just a happy kid.”
Jaylen knows good kids remember those who help them and try to reflect that good back in to the world. In fact, his first words were about people who love him and influence him for good.
“I like my teacher. She’s pretty cool,” said Jaylen. “She’s pretty understanding, [and] really helps us through our struggles.”
Jaden knows love, and feels it.
“I just love all the people that were there for me
People have been there for Jaylen, but not anyone who would bring him in to a forever family. Jaylen says he thinks about what that family will be like.
“A family means an opportunity for me to show what I really am or who I really am and my true colors,” said Jaylen.”
Jaylen believes deeply: family is where we work on “showing love and care” -- the most important things to show. And until then, Jaylen knows he, and Clark County’s hundreds of kids waiting to be adopted, must keep hope alive.
“Whatever age you are, there will be somebody out there looking for a kid like you,” said Jaylen.
