Woman, 19, in custody after allegedly fatally stabbing her male roommate


MONDAY 9:10 AM UPDATE | The victim has been identified as Jace Ernst, 25, of North Las Vegas. The Clark County coroner said he died of stab wound to his left chest. The death was ruled a homicide.

3:05 P.M. UPDATE | Police have arrested 19-year-old Dymund Ellis in the death of her roommate.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and Ellis were roommates. A verbal argument between the two erupted just before Ellis stabbed the victim.

Ellis was subsequently booked at the Las Vegas City Detention Center for the charge of murder with a deadly weapon.


A woman is in custody after North Las Vegas police say she fatally stabbed her roommate late Friday night.

The stabbing occurred shortly after 11 p.m. in the 3400 block of East Cheyenne Avenue near North Pecos Road.

Police said the 19-year-old got into an argument with a 25-year-old man and stabbed him. He died later at UMC.

North Las Vegas Officer Eric Leavitt said detectives arrested the woman at the scene without incident.
