Woman charged in west valley shooting death of boyfriend

A woman who told police she was having trouble with her boyfriend apparently fatally shot him several times Saturday night.

Lisa Hollopeter, 35, was arrested at the scene in the 100 block of Thunder Street, near South Buffalo and West Westcliffe drives.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 40-year-old Jose Ignacio Villanueva. His official cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner was ruled a homicide.

Her boyfriend was shot multiple times and died at the scene, said Lt. Steve Summers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

About 10:35 p.m., officers responded to investigate reports of a shooting. Officers detained Hollopeter outside of the apartment where the shooting occurred. Officers entered the apartment and located an unresponsive man. The victim was later pronounced deceased.

The LVMPD homicide investigation release says the victim and Hollopeter were in a dating relationship and had recently had problems. Through the course of the investigation, detectives arrested Hollopeter for one count of murder with a deadly weapon.

The death is the 41st homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2017.
