Woman dies after being run over while attempting to stop thief
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating two homicides that occurred on Saturday, Dec. 29.
One homicide happened near Decatur Boulevard and Flamingo Road around 4:30 p.m.
According to Lt. Ray Spencer with LVMPD, a white female suspect, approximately 20 years old, tried to pay for service at a nail salon with a credit card.
When the credit card was declined, the female left the nail salon, saying she was going to her car to get money, but instead got into her car and attempted to leave.
The female manicurist and a male, possibly her husband, went outside to try to prevent the suspect from leaving.
The manicurist got in front of the suspect's vehicle.
The suspect did not stop and ran the manicurist over, dragging her roughly 50 feet.
The victim was transported to UMC Trauma, but died shortly after arriving.
LVMPD located the suspect's vehicle in a nearby apartment complex, but the suspect is still on the loose.
The vehicle was a rental, according to LVMPD.
Investigators have recovered surveillance video at the scene of homicide.
Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
LVMPD is also investigating an attempted robbery and homicide in the 900 block of Sahara Avenue.
