Woman dies five days after three-vehicle crash on I-15 near Sahara

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports that a woman has succumbed to the injuries she received in a three-vehicle crash on Wednesday, September 5.

The woman, identified as 47-year-old Janette Violeta Gonzales-Wittman, was struck by another car as she was driving northbound on the I-15.

The driver of the other car, identified by police as 25-year-old Antonio Bolivar Vasquez, was reportedly driving recklessly and hit Gonzales-Wittman's car from the rear at a high rate of speed, pushing her into a third car that was driving in front of her.

Vasquez was arrested the morning of the crash for DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm or death, Reckless Driving resulting in substantial bodily harm or death and driving without driver’s license.

Gonzales-Wittman was transported to UMC and died on Monday.

The adult male driver as well as two passengers in the third car sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

This marks the Nevada Highway Patrol – Southern Command’s 47th fatal crash resulting in 59

fatalities for 2018.
