Her name was Brittany Briggs, the 24-year-old was a proud school graduate just months before she was found dead inside her home.

Her mom, Kim Briggs, says she looked forward to a bright future.

Days before her death, she started a job preparing taxes. Her parents say her dream was to become a nurse, but almost a year after her death, clues about her murder continue to run thin. Her dad John says the truth is out there.

"I would like to think this person or these people would come forward," John Schaffner said.

The coroner says Briggs was strangled to death inside her home near Mount Hood and Lake Mead. Police say her cell phone was missing, her id's, and other personal items. They also said they tested a bunch of DNA found at the scene. The only witness may have been her three-year-old daughter, Nadine.

"She's made mention of that night like somebody putting the covers over her and telling her to stay quiet, don't come out," Kim Briggs said.

The little girl answered the door of their home, which investigators say was cracked open when friends arrived in the morning.

Her parents say the back door of her home was kicked in when they went to collect her belongings. They said that’s when the found other items missing, but still, they don’t know why. Without closure, her mom struggles to move on without her.

"It's just not fair, they are wondering around living their lives and we have our daughter in a little urn on a shelf," Briggs said.
