Videos show damage and severe weather as Hurricane Irma impacts Caribbean


One of the most powerful Atlantic storms in a century made landfall overnight.

Irma is expected to become the second powerful storm to thrash the united states but its precise trajectory remains uncertain.

The eye of Irma, a Category 5 storm packing winds of 185 miles per hour, passed over an island near Puerto Rico early today.

The white house says President Trump approved emergency declarations for Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, mobilizing federal disaster relief efforts.

Hurricane Irma is expected to hit Florida on Saturday.
