The Animal Foundation is asking for the community to come together and help with pet overcrowding after receiving an overwhelming number of animals this month.

According to the shelter, they are running out of room after taking in 1,714 pets so far this month, and 425 of them within the last four days.

They are looking to get at least 100 dogs into temporary foster homes to make room at the shelter this weekend alone.

Those interested in fostering can come directly to The Animal Foundation on Monday, May 29 to pick up a dog.

Team members and volunteers will be ready to assist from 11 am to 4 pm and provide food to take home.

There is no cost to foster a pup, with staff ready to pair families with a dog that works best for them.

To expedite the process, The Animal Foundation encourages anyone interested to fill out our foster application online.

The community is also reminded to try to find the owner of a stray dog before calling Animal Protection Services or bringing them to the shelter.

There are several ways to reunite a dog with their family without taking them to the shelter.

The Animal Foundation is located at 655 N Mojave Road in Las Vegas.
