WEDNESDAY'S CHILD: Alexis dreams of a family that is respectful, caring, and not abusive

I'm hoping someone out there can convince my new friend Alexis that she's got beautiful eyes.

During my time with her, Alexis didn't feel like looking up while telling a story we all can learn from: the story of a girl who wants to thrive, because for her, it's been hard to survive.

She’s survived some harmful stuff, and it’s made her strong.

Alexis told me, getting to come to the News 3 studios was something she's wanted to do for a long time. She said she wanted to see me in real life, and not on TV

“Do I meet expectations?” I asked.

“Nope!” she laughed.

Humor and truth are healers, and in this moment, Alexis opened up a little. She told me about the animals she loves, and the family she dreams of having.

“Family is important,” Alexis said. “They love me, and I care for them. They'll always be with me in my heart, no matter what happens. Being kind, respectful, loving, and no abusing.”

“What does a wonderful life look like to you?” I asked Alexis.

“I don't know,” she replied. “I’ve never had one.”

She's never had one, but she wants one. Alexis tells me she dreams of going to college, getting married, and becoming a mother.

But first she needs a mother.

“Hopefully they'll take me,” Alexis says.

Will you?
