Fran Riordan has been named manager of the Las Vegas 51s for the 2019 season, the team announced Thursday.

Riordan will become the 25th manager for the Vegas baseball team, which recently announced an affiliation agreement with the Oakland Athletics. He will take over for Tony DeFrancesco.

Riordan served as manager for Oakland's previous Triple-A team, the Nashville Sounds, for the 2018 season. The Sounds finished with a 72-68 record.

Joining Riordan will be Rick Rodriguez as pitching coach, Eric Martins as hitting coach and Craig Conklin as coach, all of whom were part of the Nashville coaching staff in 2018.

"The Athletics organization is very happy to be in Las Vegas," Riordan said in a press release. "Las Vegas is a great place to have a Triple-A franchise and the proximity to Oakland provides a great situation for us."

The 51s finished with a 71-69 record this past season. It was the last season played at Cashman Field, and the final of the team's affiliation agreement with the New York Mets.
