Full Sportscast: Golden Knights, Kings look to get pucks to the net in first-round series

Las Vegas' first major league pro sports team will open its first playoff series Wednesday, hosting the LA Kings at T-Mobile Arena.

The puck drops at 7:00 pm.

In its inaugural season, Vegas has earned a reputation of playing fast and taking the puck away.

The LA Kings, winners of two Stanley Cups in the last seven years, are known to play physical, and they boast one of the league's best *defenses, having allowed the fewest goals in all the NHL this year.

Their penalty kill is also the top in the league.

As fancy as all these statistics sound, both sides agree that the key to success can be as simple as getting pucks to the net.

"For me, it's getting pucks to the net, simplifying it and make sure you win some battles in front of the goal, because they do a good job," said Vegas head coach Gerard Gallant. "They've got some real good penalty killers."

"Just throwing pucks at the net," said Los Angeles defenseman Drew Doughty. "You know, a lot of crappy goals go in in playoffs. That's just how it kind of is, so you got to throw pucks at the net and stuff like that, and a lot of lucky bounces happen."
