Golden Knights win! Vegas is heading to the Stanley Cup Final

After gaining a 2-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, the Vegas Golden Knights have achieved something previously unimaginable: They will be heading to the Stanley Cup Final.

Winnipeg-born Ryan Reaves scored the winning goal in front of his family and friends.

Expansion teams historically perform poorly, but the Golden Knights have bucked that trend and, by reaching the final their first year, have achieved something that no expansion team has achieved in any sport.

There are four NHL teams that have never made it to the Stanley Cup Final: the Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota Wild, Columbus Blue Jackets and Arizona Coyotes.

The schedule for the Stanley Cup final has not been finalized, nor is it certain which team the Golden Knights will face.

Tampa Bay Lighting is leading its series against the Washington Capitals, 3-2. Game Six is Monday night.
