Amber Dixon is a regional Murrow and Emmy award-winning sports reporter at KSNV, the NBC affiliate in Las Vegas.
She is also the weekend sports anchor and was named 2017 Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association.
Amber's experience includes covering both news and sports with two Texas stops before Las Vegas, in Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley.
Amber's favorite sport is boxing. Her passion for pugilism stems from Saturday nights spent with her father as a young girl, watching the likes of Oscar De La Hoya and Mike Tyson on TV.
Amber, an Arizona native, is a proud graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. In college, she spent a semester studying abroad in Chile. Living with a Chilean family helped her solidify her Spanish, which she currently finds herself using to interview boxers and baseball players. Amber grew up playing softball, basketball, and volleyball.
She enjoys telling the stories not only of great athletes but of those striving to become great. She also sits on the board of Future Smiles, a nonprofit that provides vital oral health care to needy children in Nevada.
Amber was drawn to the organization when learning that it provides dental sealants at little or no cost to at-risk children. Amber's mother was a dental assistant and on weekends would sneak a young Amber into the dental office to apply dental sealants. As a result of the sealants, Amber was protected from cavities for many, many years.
