A stretch of northbound Interstate 15 will be closed starting late Wednesday night to accommodate Project Neon work, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

I-15 will be closed between Spring Mountain Road and Sahara Avenue from 11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, until about 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.

There will also be ramp closures in effect:

  • The west and eastbound Spring Mountain Road onramps to Interstate 15 northbound will be closed from 9 p.m., September 5, until 6 a.m., September 6.
  • The Flamingo Road onramp to Interstate 15 northbound will also be closed from 9 p.m., September 5, until 6 a.m., September 6.

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes, including U.S. 95 and the 215 Beltway.

The closure is necessary to install overhead traffic management signs, NDOT says, part of the Project Neon widening of I-15.

The project is 81 percent complete, according to the agency, and on track for "substantial completion" by the summer of 2019.
