Southbound I-15 to close in downtown Vegas for Project Neon work
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) —
Southbound Interstate 15 will be closed over the weekend in downtown Las Vegas to accommodate work related to Project Neon.
A spokesman for the Nevada Department of Transportation says the closure will be between U.S. 95 and Charleston Boulevard, starting 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, and lasting until 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19.
Southbound traffic will be detoured onto MLK Boulevard and re-entering at Pinto Lane.
The closure will allow for concrete pouring to build four bridge decks, part of the new HOV flyover structure. The weekend's work will also include the installation of barrier railing, overhead signs and high mast lights.
In addition, four ramps will be closed over the weekend:
- Northbound 95 to southbound I-15
- D Street on-ramp to I-15 south
- Northbound 95 to MLK Boulevard
- I-15 northbound to MLK Boulevard
Project Neon is 88 percent complete, according to NDOT, and substantial completion is expected by the summer of 2019.
